A Shameless Plug...For Me

Hey Everyone! I know I haven't been keeping up with the blog. Working again has taken up a lot of time and energy. The new job is going well, I am out of training and have my own cubical with a window view. It is very different and I am still getting used to the early mornings. I like the people I work with, though and am adjusting well to the work.

One thing I have realized, though, is that nearly everyone where I work has some sort of second job or means of additional support! We just really don't make that much money. But for me the idea of working any additional hours is just beyond me. So I started thinking of ways I might be able to do it. And a few things have occurred to me.

For instance, tonight I am sitting in my living room but I am also working on a few things. First off...meet two of my favorite guests....This is Bitsy

She is quite the Diva. She loves taking selfies and being the queen of the apartment...or any place she might be.
This is her big brother, Batman

He is super chill, most of the time. He loves to lay right here by me while I watch TV or whatever I am doing.
The three of us have good times! Tonight, rather than TV watching...I am actually on my laptop editing some BEAUTIFUL pictures I took last weekend of one of my favorite families. Here is a sneak peak of Elizabeth, who I have taken pictures of since she was like 2 or 3 years old!

Isn't she gorgeous?? I know! It is so fun to see her every year or so and get a chance to see how much she has grown and I so enjoy doing pictures with her and her family.

SO that is when it occurred to me that I already do some things that I can make money at and that I love. SO rather than try to sell a product or get a job, I am going to try to market my services...to YOU.

SO (I am going to try to say SO a few more times) SO if you need a PET SITTER or a PHOTOGRAPHER....let me know!! I am not a professional - at either thing - but I do both fairly often and I love both and have people who will vouch for me. Prices are negotiable depending on how many animals/where we stay/how long/etc. and the same for photo shoots. BUT I am trying to do some kind of job 3 to 4 times a month.

SO I need your help. If you have need of me...PLEASE LET ME KNOW! ALSO if you know of someone else who might need me, please pass the word along! Thanks so much!

I have linked the picture of Elizabeth above to my photography page on Facebook. I have not been doing a great job of keeping it updated lately but tonight I added some recent photos I have taken and I will start paying more attention to it again! If you have not added yourself to it, please do that as well!

Day 16 - Dreaming of Work

July 16 (and yes, I am behind again....) - Your dream job

This prompts several responses from me. First off....NO job is my dream job. This is not to say I would never do anything, but it would be AMAZING to not have the responsibility of working. I would love to devote my time to Michael and/or my parents. I would also love to have the time to do charity/volunteer work. I used to volunteer all the time at my church but...my health these days does not leave time for anything beyond work. So...I would enjoy not working.

Having said that, however, I actually really enjoy my job. I love working at a library. I love working on a college campus. I love supervising college workers. It is open many hours, which makes my hours more flexible, which is really good for my health issues. All in all, it is a great job!! I am blessed...and lucky!

Now, having said THAT I have always thought that being a photographer must be the most amazing job ever!! I love taking pictures...I love dealing with people when taking pictures...I love editing pictures! I pretty much just love it! I admit I have no idea if I would love it this much if I had to do it all the time, but it is the dream... :)

I Can Be Anything...

So my next topic is...What is the thing you most wish you were great at?

Several things popped into my head -

Music. I swear I am totally a musician...and God forgot to give me the talent to go with it! Just...a mistake. I know I was meant to be a rock star. Or maybe a classical pianist. Or a Broadway star. So many choices. Sadly, I am not even close to any of them. Ah well.

Photography. I don't SUCK at photography. If you think I do check out THIS site which has made me feel SO much better about my attempts at taking pictures (and also makes me spit out my drink laughing!). I would love to be REALLY good at it though. And to be able to do it all the time. This is something that might have been feasible if I had started working on it earlier in life. These days my health doesn't make it possible except as a hobby. It is a good hobby, though, and mostly I am content.

Being a mom. I will never get the chance to be a mom. That makes me sad. I love babies so much. I love caring for people so much. I have, however, had the incredible privilege of being able to be a parental figure (guardian) to my nephew. Probably more than anything in the world I wish I could be great at that. I know I am doing okay, I know no one is just inherently GREAT at parenting. I know I got thrown into it at age 11 instead of age birth. I still wish I was better at it. I think every parent (or even Aunt/Uncle) wishes that.

Dieting. I am really bad at it. This is on my mind a lot right now as I sit at my desk trying not to eat all of the food I brought for an 8 hr day within my first hour at work. Sigh. I just love food so much!

Writing. This is one I need to work on more. I am a good writer, or so I have been told my whole life. I just have stopped doing it. I used to write for fun all the time. Then I went to college. My degrees in college were VERY heavily centered on writing academically. I was good at that too. Probably even better at that than at 'for fun' stuff. Since I have been out of school though I just haven't done it much. Getting into blogging more is one way I am working on that. I am considering joining a writers group a friend of mine has started. I am scared to commit to something else in my life right now (things are a bit beyond hectic) and I am scared that I will not be good enough to join the likes of her (she has been published...several times). It is something I want to get better at though, that I actually feel like I can work on. It is a goal to do something about it. I don't have a great track record at keeping goals but...maybe saying it publicly will help shame me into doing it!

Okay well there were five answers when I was only asked for one. What can I say, brevity has never been my thing! :)

P.S.
I spent today looking at some of my old pictures...I take it all back...Some of them ARE REALLY BAD!!! LOL...at least I can say I think I am getting a bit better...
