July 1st...On July 2nd

So quite possibly introducing myself a day later is a great metaphor for me!! Ha. Timing has never really been my strong suit. But...there are worse things.

So you can actually read my blog info for a short introduction to who I am - as far as things like age and profession etc. Here is a RECENT PHOTO of me

I just got bangs again for the first time in FOREVER and I am celebrating my hair is long enough to put into braids again. I went super short a few years back and it has been a long journey back to my hair, which is my "one great beauty" (BIG brownie points if you get that literary reference).

So...I am a nerd. And a dork. And a dweeb. Whichever word you choose. I have realized, however, I am more of a combination of all of the above than any one of them to the truest sense. In other words, I am a total nerd and I am pretty smart...but I got nothing in my head about physics or advanced math etc. True nerds I think would...but me not so much. I am a dork and I love comic book movies (and even some comic books) but...I don't care if Iron Man doesn't follow the TRUE story...I mean really...just watch the movie. So...basically I am my own person and I don't think I can really be pegged down to any one category. I love that about myself.

What else is important about me? I am a big mouth...I love to talk...which includes blogging. So...look out. I will try not to make these to long!!

We Are All Weak

So...I have been in the mood to write again lately (which is great) so I decided to go back to a list of topics I was making my way through last year. I got not quite half way through and then started doing a book challenge so I quit. I still have the list, however,  and have decided I want to try and finish it up.

So the next topic is: Describe 5 weaknesses you have.

If only 5 were all there were.

1. Being hard on myself
. I push myself too hard. I am not in great health. I have a legitimate reason why I cannot do as much and go as long as most people my age. I know that, but I get frustrated with myself if I cannot do the things I think I should be doing or want to be doing. I tend to just say yes and do things even when I know I shouldn't. I need a lot of sleep, I need to not be physically over active, but...I do things anyway. You only live once right? Only...deep down I know that my quality of life would be better if I would learn to say no sometimes. This may seem really strange to some of you who probably feel like I say NO all the time, but really I should way more often.

2. Budgeting. I really suck at this. I mean I have a budget that is so well laid out and thought through and with it I can totally make my not so lucrative pay check pay all my bills. I could do it. I just don't. I write it out but I never follow it! Almost every paycheck I am stretching to make it through the last few days without being overdrawn. That is sad at my age I know. I suck at budgeting and spending.

3. Self Esteem. I have none. I mean I know there are things I am good at. I know that other people should not determine how I feel about myself. I know I have to love me before anyone else can. I know all those things. I still have low self esteem. I just see my faults so huge and have a hard time moving past them. It is something I am working on. I am becoming more comfortable in my own skin. I admit it is a slow process though.

4. Emotional Eating. I am really over-weight. It is because I eat my emotions. And I have a lot of emotions! I am working on this, but it is an up and down battle. Again, this is because of emotions. When I am doing well I start to lose weight and get things under control. Then something happens (like...another surgery) and I get upset and I start eating again. This is probably my biggest personal weakness.

5. Procrastinating. I never used to be a procrastinator! I was always the annoying girl in school who had her project done and turned in a week before the due date. I showed up early to EVERYTHING. I am not sure what happened, but I am NOT that person anymore. I constantly have a to-do list and I am constantly putting it off. And usually I put it off till it is overdue or already past or what-ever the case may be. I do NOT like this in other people and even less in myself!

So there you have it. A look at a few of the many reasons I am weak. What a depressing topic to start on! I might have to do the next one (predictably...strengths) soon! :)

Challenge complete

So I finished the book challenge! Yay! I cheated a little bit one time when my back totally gave out and I could not sit at my computer for 4 days straight, but I made it up and by the end of July I had posted 31 times! One of the reasons I decided to do the challenge was to get me in the habit of blogging more often. I don't intend to do it EVERY day (I know, collective sigh of relief right?) but I would like to do it more often. I often feel, though, that I have nothing really worth saying. Why would anyone else care what I am doing or thinking? I think that is a valid question in some ways, but in other ways I think...that's what blogging is. If people don't care about what I am thinking/saying, they won't read my blog! Ha! So I am going to try.

Before I did the book challenge I was actually in the middle of another challenge that was much less structured. It just gave very basic questions or topics about yourself to answer. I think it was created to help those getting into blogging. I did enjoy doing those, and think I will return to it eventually, but I actually really liked the book challenge better. Reading and books are so much a part of who I am (hello, librarian!) so it was good to get to share some of my love for that in a new way. I felt like I was giving out recommendations every day! And you all should take them! (well most of them. You can probably safely skip my least favorite and my embarrassed to read pics.). I think I will continue to blog about books in some manner. Maybe a review of the books I read or some such thing. I have not decided for sure.

Today I began a new sort of challenge, one that has nothing to do with blogging. My nephew's new school begins 2 hours earlier than his old school AND is much further away from us, so today we began a quest to reorient our bodies and become morning people. We have to get up at 5am every weekday morning! Whoa...seriously that is painful for me to even write. 5am is NOT okay. I am a night owl. I am happiest when I go to bed between midnight and 2am and wake up around 10 am. Obviously....that is not going to work. Michael's new bedtime is 8:30pm and last night mine was 10pm. I could NOT fall asleep that fast. I am hoping, however, that if I make sure I am in bed by that time every night and I am tired from getting up so early maybe my body will eventually adjust to it. I might even move it a little earlier. This means a switch in how we do EVERYTHING though. My free time to get things done has always been after Michael goes to bed and I am used to having like 3 to 4 hours. That time is gone now. I have about an hour and then my own nighttime routine. We will see how it goes. I am hoping to learn to love the extra daytime hours we will gain (he is home from school at 3pm now). I am hoping....

In other news I finally began weeding my front porch garden area. The excitement of my life knows no bounds! Ha! There is much going on in home owning and parenting, but little else, which is good I suppose as those two things are taking up plenty of time and energy. I do have a Pampered Chef party coming up and a revamping of my Premier Jewelry business, so hopefully more good things in the near future. I hope your week is a great one!
