Beauty & The Beast

So I am a book nerd (otherwise known as a librarian) so of course I LOVE the new trend toward fairy tales in both movies and TV. Once Upon a Time is a huge favorite and I am all about the general trend. To be honest, though, I was pretty iffy about this next show. The CW announced they were doing a re-telling of the story Beauty and the Beast starring Smallville's Lana Lane. Well....I was concerned. I never loved Lana Lang and I was not sure the CW could handle a story like Beauty & The Beast. Luckily...I was wrong.

 

 

I mean, don't get me wrong, it is cheesy CW teen drama...but I love that stuff! The slightly odd thing about this show is that they are NOT supposed to be teenagers. They are actually adults and working people, which does make it harder to swallow some of the lovey dovey cheese, but I totally have. I am really enjoying watching their story unfold. It is a common idea - the "beast" was a solider and the government did something to him to make him a super soldier, it went wrong, he escaped, yada yada...but it is interesting. The conspiracy theory angle helps keep the story going and I really like the element of can she trust him or is what happened to him so bad she should stay away.

 

This is not "great television" but it is good, fun CW drama. I love it.
